Interpretive text
Dale Harding is a Bidjara, Ghungalu and Garingbal artist who was born in Moranbah, Central Queensland to a miner/cattle farmer father and a skilled artisan mother. His work is often about his matrilineal heritage, and White collared has been described by the artist as “imagined artefacts” inspired by the lives of two relatives. The found materials resemble the uniforms of domestic labourers—a common path for Aboriginal girls of the Stolen Generation who grew up displaced from country.
