The small garden (for M.S)
gouache, ink, pencil and paper

1/2 (varied edition)
This work is an artist book and text work inspired by a poem by Madonna Staunton. It developed out of my interest in adopting chance and indeterminacy as a strategy to make work, and is informed by researching the artwork and often-marginalised histories of women painters in Australia. I am interested in the contribution they have made to Modernism through to contemporary practices, and consequently how they inform my own position as a female artist. Brooke, 2016 Description by Normana White, SLQ blog, Feb 2017: Oceania is a very 'graphic' artist's book which celebrates cultural diversity, by tow artists who came originally from elsewhere; Angela from Italy, and George who is of Greek extraction. Antoni Jach, Australian novelist and playwright is the creator of the text for the book.
