Interpretive text
Michael Cook is a contemporary Queensland artist whose work is of artistic and cultural significance. In his practice, Cook often explores narratives of Australia and Indigenous identity and myth, recording his perspective as a living Indigenous artist about issues in contemporary Australia. In this series Cook is asking the viewer to rethink their version of history, overlaying Aboriginal faces on those of past Australian Prime Ministers.Through my eyes is a photographic project which portrays Australia's prime ministers from Edmund Barton in 1901 to Julia Gillard in 2010 through an indigenous gaze. - accessed 2019, https://www.michaelcook.net.au/projects/through-my-eyes
