Dylan Mooney is a Yuibera, South Sea Islander and Torres Strait Islander artist, based in Brisbane. Titled ‘Away from country,’ these works depict Yuwi shields from his country in the Mackay region, part of his ongoing research into his people's traditional shield designs in state and international archival collections. His two-sided, watercolour and ink drawings on one side show the shields – to scale as identified from his research. On the other side, he has drawn ink landscapes from the Mackay Region, representing how they have been removed from their rightful owners and culture.
