Interpretive text
Fiona Omeenyo (Umpila people) is part of the Lockhart River Art Gang, a group of North Queensland artists known under this name since the late 90s. Omeenyo’s practice draws inspiration from ancestral spirts and stories from her Country. Her figures such as those in ‘Together’ pictured are inspired by Quinken, Aboriginal mythological beings as depicted in the rock art escarpments west of Cooktown QLD.
